Ballet at the time of Renaissance in Italy

From this sculpture of Mercury by Giambologna, a flemish artist who worked all his life for the Medici family in Florence, our ballet position of "Attitude" was inspired  (back leg lifted with knee slightly bent).
During this time Italy was the centre of Arts and even dance Masters were important as part of education to achieve elegant ways of moving  among noble people.
