Ballet is a classical art form which requires lot of discipline, dedication and time . It improves the posture of the full body and develops grace and strength. It is a beautiful way to express feelings and emotions.
Ballet originated in the Italian courts in the 14th century but was later codified in France under the patronage of King Louis XIV. It was a way to entertain the Royal family and the noble people. With the foundation of the "Academie Royale de Danse" in 1661 it became a form of art and dancers were well trained and professionally recognised. We are able to trace its development in an unbroken line of dancers and teachers from then until present day...
The terminology is therefore in French language. It provides a strong foundation for any other form of dance, theatre and sport.
